VANCOUVER, Wash. - A rough first quarter for Portland CC resulted in a big early deficit that couldn't be overcome in a 87-66 loss at Clark tonight.
The Panthers were hoping to end the season on a positive note, but shots were not falling as PCC fell behind 12-1 in the opening minutes and trailed 35-12 after the first period.
PCC played much better for the remainder of the game and cut the gap to as few as 12 points (43-31) after Katie Salas drilled a three pointer with 3 minutes left in the first half.
The host Penguins made their push in the second half however, and stretched out their advantage to as many as 31 (73-42) before PCC rallied in the 4th quarter.Â
India Gultry led the Panthers with 25 points, while Karissa Postula added 22 points including three makes from distance. Katie Salas also reached double figures at 19 points.
