PORTLAND, Ore. - A brace from Kiara Melendez help Portland Community College women's soccer to a 3-1 win over Umpqua yesterday at Rock Creek Fields.
It was the fourth win in a row for the Panthers, and the win makes PCC 3-0 in NWAC Region play. The pair of goals from Melendez gives her a team leading five goals on the season.
The second goal Melendez helped the home team to a 3-0 lead and put the Panthers on cruise control. Cailynn Campbell also scored for PCC, her first of the year.
Umpqua found some footing in the second half and Holly Rae scored a consolation goal for the visiting Riverhawks in the 82nd minute, avoiding the shutout.
The next scheduled contest versus Rogue has been canceled. PCC will take the field again on September 22 with a visit to rival Clark College.
