Fraijo Rescues Panthers with Goal at the Death

PORTLAND, Ore. - Melissa Fraijo scored a late tying goal for Portland CC to rescue a point for the Panthers versus a stingy Clackamas team today at Rock Creek Fields.

The score came in the final minute, and not a second to soon as PCC found themselves trailing the visiting Cougars toward the end of the second half.

In the 87th minute, Emily Allen scored a stunning goal from 30 yards for Clackamas. The shot came out of nowhere, and the drive looped over Panther keeper Ruby Araiza Tapia to give the Cougars the improbable advantage.

Moments later as the Panthers were pressing forward, Fraijo pounced on a loose ball in the box after a corner kick and scored from close range, helping PCC avoid the loss.

The host Panthers out shot Clackamas 29-9 on the day, but Cougar goalkeeper Joelle Robeson was outstanding and made 13 saves to frustrate the PCC attack.
