OREGON CITY, Ore. - A valiant effort by the Portland CC men's team came up short today, as the Panthers dropped a 92-82 decision at Clackamas today.
It looked like PCC would continue the stellar play that they demonstrated earlier in the week in the win at Lane, as the Panthers opened up a 8-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game. A time out from the Cougars and wholesale substitutions stopped the bleeding, and Clackamas made their way back into the game from that point. The teams eventually played to a stalemate in the first half, and the score showed 41-41 at the break.Â
Unfortunately, the Panthers scoring touch cooled off after halftime (11 of 36), which included just 1 of 11 from three point range. Clackamas pulled slightly ahead as the half progressed, but not more than single digits until 3:18 to play when the Cougars led 80-70 after a 3-point play. Josiah Sewell scored in the lane for PCC with 1:29 on the clock to bring the score to within six points (86-80), but the Panthers could not get closer.
Sewell and George Sadi led PCC with 17 points each. Treyvon Richmond added 14 counters.Â
