PCC Women Win at Linn-Benton

ALBANY, Ore. - After a rough stretch of Covid-19 related issues and absences, the Portland CC women's basketball team appears to be rounding into form. The Panthers went on the road today and earned a big Southern Region win over #7 ranked Lin-Benton Community College by the score of 74-59.

PCC scored the ball at a season high 52 percent clip, including a 6 of 6 effort from post player Iris Cubit. Meanwhile, the Panther defense was solid all game, holding the host Roadrunners to just over 40 percent, including a meager 1 of 12 showing from the three point line.

After a back and forth 1st quarter that saw the score all even at 18-18, PCC took control in the 2nd period by outscoring L-B 22-6. That 10 minutes of play proved to be decisive, as PCC maintained their advantage through the second half. The Panthers largest lead was 22 points (61-39) at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Linn-Benton attempted to climb back into the game in the 4th period, closing to within 64-52 with 4:32 to play, but five points from Cubit and a 3-pointer from Nia Bradley pushed PCC to the winning finish.

India Gultry continues to dazzle, as the sophomore dropped in 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Cubit finished with 15 points,
