Panthers Fall at Home to SWOCC, 3-1

PORTLAND, Ore. - In a tightly contested matchup, Southwestern Oregon CC defeated Portland CC by the score of 3-1 at Rock Creek Fields.

Both teams came out aggressive from the opening whistle, resulting in plenty of end to end action. PCC seemed to take control of the game in the first half, and sent 10 shots toward the SWOCC goal. Most of the attempts did not trouble the Laker goalkeeper Angus Johnson, as the Panthers could not find the final touch needed to get on the board.

The visiting Lakers took advantage of the halftime break, and began to challenge the Panther defense.in the second half. They broke through in the 52nd minutes, as a cross from Noah Balaam found Aiden Soule in front of goal, who headed home from close range.

13 minutes later, a shot from Rodrigo Torreslio was saved by PCC keeper Matt McKedy, but the rebound fell to Benji Hudson resulting in a tap in.

The Panthers started throwing numbers forward, and were finally rewarded in the 89th minute when Rakan Abu-Marjoub stung a shot from 10 yards that beat Johnson to his left. Josue Dolores Lopez was credited with the assist.

As time was running short, McKedy came forward to corral a desperation clearance from SWOCC. Toby Balaam swooped in and poked the ball free, leading to a breakaway goal as time expired.
