ROSEBURG, Ore. - THe Panthers made the tough trip to Umpqua CC today, and will come home with a 77-63 loss.
The Riverhawks are perennially hard to beat in their home gym, and they made things difficult for PCC - particularly in the first half.
The first quarter set the tone for the game, as Umpqua jumped out to a 27-9 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Panthers improved with each period after that, but a 49-21 halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
Portland went on to outscore UCC in both the 3rd and 4th quarters, with the Panthers displaying improved defense and shooting percentage. PCC also was able to get to the free throw line consistently, making 20 of 29 tries.
JaLay Harris-Burns led Portland with 20 points, with Ashley Aughterson adding 13 points and five rebounds.
