PORTLAND, Ore. - Sophomore night ended with a close loss to Southwestern Oregon yesterday at Harold Williams Court.
The Panthers had a difficult time getting any offensive momentum going, and a second half lull allowed the visiting Lakers to build a 19 point lead (62-43) with 9:39 to play.
The contest seemed all but over, but coach Tony Broadous looked to his bench for a spark. Nicolas Perez-Acosta (13 points), Kai Apo (8 points), and Steven Long (8 points) provided a lifeline and led Portland all the way back. Josiah Sewell eventually tied the game with a free throw with 10Â seconds remaining.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, SWOCC's O'shen Cazimero drove to the rim and finished a tough shot at the rim to give the Lakers the win as time expired.
Sophomores Johnathan Claxton, Josiah Sewell, Steven Long, Jackson Galliardi, and Ambrose Johnson were honored before the game.
