PORTLAND, Ore. - A season best scoring effort sent Portland CC past Pacific University JV yesterday at Cascade Gym, 84-73.
The points on the scoreboard were the most the Panthers have scored in the young season. The 50 percent shooting performance as a team (30-60) was also the best showing for PCC.
The Panthers looked to be in control of this contest, leading from the opening tip and by as many as 13 points (34-21) in the 2nd quarter. The visiting Boxers were resilient however, and fought all the way back to take a one point lead early in the 4th quarter (56-55).
PCC slowly pulled away from there, thanks in part to Amelia Echternkamp scoring 10 of her 22 points in the period. The Panthers finished strong as a team, hitting 10 of 13 shots over the final 10 minutes of action. The accurate shooting was needed, as ball control was an issue for the home team for the game (17 turnovers).
Lilly Walker was also a key contributor with 22 points. Raven Parson added 16 counters.
