PORTLAND, Ore. - The NWAC South title is within reach for Portland CC men's basketball after an easy 83-44 win over Chemeketa yesterday at Cascade Gym.
PCC now owns an 11-1 record in region play with four games remaining. Second place SWOCC sits at 9-4.
The outcome of the game wasn't in doubt for very long, as the Panthers opened up an 18-2 lead after 10 minutes of action. Nothing much went right for the visiting Storm in the first half, as 19 percent shooting led to just five total field goals. PCC took full advantage and enjoyed a 39-13 lead at the break.
Chemeketa was marginally better in the second half, but Portland didn't let them off the mat. The advantage reached as much as 41 points (80-39) before the final buzzer.
Kyle Gruhler and Hayden Rose led PCC with 15 points each.
