Skid Reaches Three for Panther Women

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC women's basketball dropped their third game in a row, this time 43-41 at home to Chemeketa CC.

The low scoring affair saw both teams struggle to find any success on the offensive end of the floor, with the Panthers particularly ineffective at 27 percent shooting - a season low.

The visiting Storm weren't much better (35 percent), but a good first quarter opened a 19-10 lead that lasted for the duration.

After a dismal third quarter of just two points scored for PCC, the Panthers trailed by 10 points (35-25) heading into the final period. Portland made a valiant effort, coming all the way back to tie the game at 41-41. Chemeketa's Mady Diaz converted a jumper with seven seconds left however, which proved to be the game winner.

Iris Cubit led PCC with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The result deals a blow to the Panthers playoff hopes, as the team now sits at 7-5 in region play with four games remaining.
