PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC cruised past Mt. Hood yesterday 115-93 in the final home contest for the Panther sophomores.
PCC finished the regular season with 10 straight wins and a 15-1 record in NWAC South Region play. The 15 win mark is an all-time program best for Portland. The previous record for wins occurred during the 2017-18 season, when PCC went 13-3 - also a region championship campaign.
The Panthers led from the jump in this one, scoring the first 12 points of the game and never trailing. To their credit, the visiting Saints responded and closed to within four points on two occasions, but PCC surged back ahead and led 63-49 at halftime.
The 2nd half saw PCC expand their lead out to as much as 32 points (91-59) as Mt. Hood had no answers defensively. The Saints did rally back to within 98-82 with some hot shooting while PCC hit a dry spell, but it was too little, too late as Portland claimed the victory.
THe Panthers will now await the results from this weekend to find out who their 1st round opponenet will be at the NWAC Championship Tournament.
