PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland went toe to toe with region leaders Lane CC yesterday, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 score.
The visiting Titans sit alone atop the NWAC South standings with 19 points, but the win at the Rock Creek Campus was more work than they bargained for.
The Panthers were determined to make a good showing, and ended the match with 14 shots compared to 11 total for Lane. Unfortunately for PCCÂ the Titans nicked a goal very early on the day, finding the winning goal in the 6th minute.
Undeterred, Portland dug in and generated several good chances and four corner kicks. The Titan defense held however, and goalkeeper Mitch Vico made seven saves to keep the Panthers off the board.
PCC will try to close out the season on a positive note, traveling to Rogue CC and finishing with a home game versus Chemeketa.
