PORTLAND, Ore. - The Panthers bent the Southwestern Oregon defense, but they did not break during a 1-0 loss to the Lakers at PCC Rock Creek.
PCC sent 22 shots toward the SWOC goal, but no breakthrough was made versus the organized Laker defense. SWOC keeper Jose Basave was brave in goal, making 13 saves to keep Portland off the board.
Southwestern had fewer chances (five on target), with their tally coming just before halftime. Tyrell Curry's attempt at a tough angle was deflected, then bounced awkwardly toward goal, off Joseph Roeper's gloves, and over the line.Â
Portland threw bodies forward in the second half, but the Laker opposition was up to the task. PCC also had four corner kicks in the second half (six total) but could not connect.Â
The Panthers will try to get back in the win column next week with a trip to Klamath Falls.
