OLYMPIA. Wash. - Portland CC opened their 2025-26 schedule with a 79-68 win over Everett CC today, in a game held at South Puget Sound CC.
The final score was a comfortable margin, but it was the Trojans that started fast. Everett jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the early action, Portland recovered however, and took the lead for good at the 13:20 mark on a Jaxson Spafford three pointer.
Spafford continued to make his presence felt in his PCC debut scoring 14 points in the first half, leading Portland to a 43-39 halftime lead.
The Panthers moved their lead out to nine points (50-41) and kept that range of advantage for the rest of the game. Jackson Leach came alive after a rough 1st half, scoring 14 points and providing steady ball handling.
Defense also proved key to the outcome, as PCC forced the Trojans into 22 turnovers for the game.
Spafford ended the game with 21 points, while Leach added 16 points and eight assists. Luke Jessup also enjoyed a productive debut with 13 points and five rebounds.
