Panthers Fade Late in Loss to SPSCC

EVERETT, Wash. - A game that could have gone either way after three quarters slipped away from Portland, as South Puget Sound pulled away in the final period to defeat the Panthers, 57-40, yesterday at the Everett Classic.

PCC struggled to find their shooting touch, hitting just 28 percent for the game. Their defense made life difficult for the Clippers however, which kept the score close until the 4th quarter.

The score read 37-30 at the end of the 3rd period, and the Panthers were hopeful that shots would begin to fall for a comeback attempt. In the end it wasn't a sudden turnaround of SPSCC's accuracy (31 percent for the game) that made the difference, but a 9 of 13 effort from the free throw line during the final 10 minutes of play.

Kamakila Waiwaiole continues to shine, leading Portland with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Eva LeBlanc grabbed a team best 11 rebounds.
