Panther Men Drop Two Games at NWAC Friendlies

SALEM, Ore. - The Portland CC men's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a pair of losses at the NWAC Friendlies held in Salem, Ore.

GAME 1: Portland 0, Highline 4

The Panthers experienced some opening game nerves during a 4-0 loss to Highline College on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds scored all four goals in the first half, as the PCC defense could not offer an organized defense during the first 45 minutes of play.

Portland was much better in the second half after making some formation changes and improving communication along the back line. The Panthers also managed to venture forward on several occasions, registering six shots and winning a pair of corner kicks.

Otto Pasley and Francisco Sanchez had two shots each, while Joseph Roeper made four saves in goal.

GAME 2: Portland 0, Bellevue 1

Portland put forth an improved effort in the second game at the NWAC Friendlies, falling to Bellevue College 1-0 on Wednesday.

The Panthers focused on defending as a team, which resulted in just seven shots allowed. Joseph Roeper made four saves to anchor the resistance, but the Bulldogs managed to score their game winner in the 17th minute.

Again, there were encouraging signs from the attack as PCC had four shots and three corner kicks, but the breakthrough goal remained elusive.
