PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland committed a season low seven turnovers, but couldn't convert possessions into enough points during a 81-76 loss to Clark today at Cascade Gym.
Though playing at home, the game was considered a road game for PCC as the Penguins hosted the contest while their facility is under renovations.
The Panthers looked strong to start the game, and took an 18-12 lead in the early action. After several minutes of trading baskets, Clark gained momentum after they turned a tie score (31-31) into 40-31 lead over a two minute stretch. That burst proved to be difference in the game, as the Penguins would not trail again.
Portland fought hard in the second half and cut the gap down to 2 points on several occasions. Luke Jessup made the score 69-67 with 3:53 to play with a pair of free throws, but Clark answered with tough baskets in the paint and few free throws of their own.
Jessup led PCC with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Leach added 17 points and five assists.
