PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland CC women faced a talented Lane squad today, falling 81-41 inside the Cascade Gym.
Lane is a perennial region contender, and this year the Titans specialize in the three point shot. They hoisted 37 attempts from behind the arc - more than half of their total shots - making 14 of them.
The Panthers did an admirable job of clogging the lane and rebounding misses, allowing just 15 second chance points. PCC was able to collect 17 offensive rebounds at their own end, but converted those extra possession into just five points.
Lane jumped out to a 28-7 lead in the 1st quarter and were never seriously threatened, but Portland did grow into the game. The Panthers managed to outscore Lane 19-18 in the 4th quarter but the outcome was long decided.
Udoka Amadi shook off a slow start to lead PCC with 13 points and nine rebounds. Claudia Arellano added 11 points and seven rebounds.
