PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC alum Marshall Vest led his Mt. Edgecumbe High School (AK) basketball team to the 3A State Championship in his first season as head coach.

Vest was a member of the 2019-20 Panther basketball team under current PCC Athletic Director Anthony Broadous. He went on to graduate from Multnomah University, then played professionally in Scotland.

Now back in his native Alaska, he has guided his Mt. Edgecumbe team to their first ever State Championship in a thrilling triple overtime victory over Barrow.

"It was a crazy season and I definitely drew from my time at PCC," said Vest. "In my mind I was trying to do everything we did - dynamic warm-ups, practice routine, preaching accountability, and demonstrating the the standard everyday. We finished the season 20-5, won our conference title and the state championship! The coaches at PCC were the best I ever had!"
