TUKWILA, WA - Portland CC women's soccer came home from the NWAC Friendlies with a win and loss to open their 2026 campaign.
The opening match versus Lower Columbia on Tuesday resulted in a 3-0 loss as the young Panthers had trouble finding their shooting boots. PCC had difficulty transitioning from the midfield to the attacking third when in possession and generated just five shots - two of which found the target.
LC put in two goals inside the first 10 minutes of action. The Panther defense settled in from there, but that damage was done.Â
Game two on Wednesday was a different story, with PCC coming away with a confidence building 4-1 win over Everett CC. Attacking players were able to find some room to operate in front of goal, and Maite Avalos took advantage with two goals in the first half.
The Trojans pulled one back early in the 2nd half, but Parker Lysen and Kailey Carcamo Rodriguez tacked on insurance goals in the final 15 minutes of play to secure the win.
