Coach John brings over a decade of high school coaching experience to PCC, having spent the past 11 seasons at Franklin High School working across JV2, JV, and Varsity levels, including the last two years as Co-Head Coach of the Varsity program. He is excited to join the PCC Women’s Soccer staff for the 2026 season.
A Northeast Portland native, John played at Grant High School where he earned All-City honors and helped lead his team to a PIL Championship in his senior year. He continued his playing career at the University of Oregon and the University of Colorado (Men’s Club), and competed professionally for a season with the Tallahassee Tempest in the USISL D3 Pro Division. He remains active in Portland’s adult soccer community.
John holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Florida State University and has been a professor at Portland Community College for over 20 years. His coaching experience spans multiple states, including Oregon, Colorado, California, and Florida.
John’s coaching philosophy centers on fostering a love for the game, building strong team camaraderie, and supporting the holistic growth of each student-athlete. He is looking forward to contributing to a competitive and meaningful 2026 season—Go Panthers!
