Clark Bests PCC in Top of Table Battle

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC battled region leading Clark College, but fell short in a 1-0 loss to the Penguins in NWAC soccer action.

The visitors from across the Columbia have yet to lose a game in 2021, and showed their quality with 22 shots taken over the 90 minutes of play. Reagan Griffith scored the lone goal in the 31st minute.

Despite the result. Portland remains in 2nd place in the Southern Region at 6-3-1.

The Panther defense certainly had their hands full, but were able to fence off the box and limit quality chances. Goalkeeper Wren Louis was also instrumental with 12 saves.

PCC was able to make several forays forward and generated a few chances. Mya Smith and Cailynn Campbell each had one shot on goal.

"The ladies really competed today and gave a good effort against a very tough opponent," said coach Devlyn Jeter. "We are in a good spot for playoffs and our goal is to be playing our best soccer when we reach the post season."
