OREGON CITY, Ore. - Needing a win to clinch a post-season berth, Portland CC managed a 0-0 tie at Clackamas CC yesterday on the road.
Despite outshooting the hosts 15-1, the Panthers could not break through the compact Clackamas defense. Cougar keeper Joelle Robeson made seven saves to keep PCC off the board.
Mya Smith led PCC with three shots on goal. Wren Louis was credited with the shutout, making one save.
A victory would have secured a 2nd place finish for the Panthers with one game to play, The result keeps PCC in second place, but just one point ahead of Umpqua CC.Â
The final matchup of the season for the Panthers is versus Southwestern Oregon on October 27. SWOCC is also in the hunt for a playoff spot, just three points behind PCC and two back of Umpqua.Â
Umpqua travels to region leaders and undefeated Clark for their final contest.
Results from these final matches will determine whether PCC will host a playoff game, travel for a playoff game, or miss the post-season entirely.
"We are still in the drivers seat and control our destiny," said coach Devlyn Jeter. "We are focused on getting the result we need next Wednesday and leaving nothing to chance."
