PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC qualified for the NWAC Playoffs with a win over Southwestern Oregon today at Rock Creek Fields.
The result also means that the Panthers will host their first round game versus the 3rd place team from the NWAC West Region on Wednesday, November 3.Â
After a scoreless first half, it was the visiting Lakers that struck first, as Lexis Canyete-Asato put SWOCC into the lead in the 61st minute.
PCC answered just four minutes later from a long range free kick by Lisa Albarran, Her drive from distance pinged downward off the crossbar and over the line.
Kiara Melendez provided the game winner in the 76th minute, as her strike from outside the box sailed into the net and sent the Panthers to the much-needed victory.
Sophomores Brianna Anaya, Rocky Compton, and Nadia Guadarrama were honored before the game.
