PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC women's soccer defeated Chemeketa 3-1 today at Rock Creek Fields, and stay in 2nd place in the NWAC Southern Region standings.
The result sets up an important matchup with Umpqua CC next week. The Riverhawks are just a single point behind PCC in the region table.
Mya Smith set the tone early, firing home her fourth goal of the season in the 3rd minute to give the host Panthers the lead.Â
Melissa Fraijo added a second goal in the 20th minute, which gave PCC a needed cushion.Â
The visiting Storm fought back just few minutes later, scoring off the foot of Miriam Barbosa-Herrera.
An insurance goal was tacked on by Fraijo midway through the second half, her fourth of the season.
