Hot Shooting Panthers Surge Past Olympic

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC used their best shooting performance of the season to surge past Olympic College, 68-52, tonight at Cascade Gym.

The Panthers hit 27 of 54 shots from the field, including a blistering 9 of 17 from three point range, to turn post their third win in as many games.

Despite the hot shooting, PCC led by just one point at halftime as the visiting Rangers took advantage of 10 takeaways and 5 offensive rebounds to keep the game close.

The halftime talk from coach Graham McFall must have made a difference, as the Panthers started the 3rd quarter on fire and quickly built a 13 point lead. Madilyn Meadows scored 8 in the period and finished the game with 17 points.

OC didn't go away, and cut the Portland lead down to nine with 5:56 to play in the 4th quarter. Key baskets down the stretch from PCC pushed the advantage back into double figures, and the Panthers eventually cruised to the win.

Iris Cubit was a dominant force inside, scoring 19 point on 9 of 9 shooting from the floor while grabbing 9 rebounds. Madilyn Meadows and Tynesha Parnell each tossed in 17 points.
