EUGENE, Ore. - A shorthanded PCC team was no match for top ranked Lane Community College yesterday on the road, falling 102-50.
The Panthers had just seven players available due to several in Covid-19 protocols, and the long layoff seemed to contribute to a slow start.
Points were hard to come by in the first quarter, as PCC managed just seven points on 3 of 22 shooting. The second period was much better, as the Panthers tossed in 21 points. But Lane continued to extend their lead and eventually enjoyed a 55-28 halftime advantage.
Hopes of a second half comeback did not materialize as Portland again struggled to score coming out of the break. PCC finished the game at 23 percent shooting, contributing mightily to the defeat.Â
India Gultry did her best to keep PCC in the game, scoring 27 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Ashley Aughterson added 10 points.
