OREGON CITY, Ore. - It was an improved performance, but the Panther women's basketball fell at Clackamas Community College today, 94-72.
After struggling to score earlier in the week at Lane, PCC upped their shooting percentage to .439 and and shot better than 50 percent in the 1st and 3rd quarters. The host Cougars were marginally better at 46 percent overall but did their damage from the thee point line, hitting 15 of 40 attempts.
The Panthers trailed by just eight points (63-55) at the end of the third quarter and were optimistic about their chances for a comeback, but Clackamas pulled away thanks to the aforementioned long ball, making 6 of 9 from behind the arc in the period.Â
Leading scorer India Gultry was obviously a focus of the Cougar defense,as the sophomore was chased into a 5 of 14 night. She instead passed for a team high eight assists.
Ashley Aughterson stepped up in the scoring department, tossing in 17 points. Emily Forin came off the bench to contribute a season best nine points.
