PORTLAND, Ore. - Five Panthers scored in double figures as Portland defeated Whatcom CC 97-82 at Cascade Gym tonight.
The burst in scoring was a welcome development, as PCC had been struggling to find a consistent scoring attack in recent games. The Panthers finished with a blistering 58 percent shooting effort (38 of 65), and out-rebounded Whatcom 38-23.
The visiting Orcas also shot the ball well at 49 percent including a 10 of 20 effort from the three point line, but could not slow down PCC's interior scoring and drives to the basket.
Isreal Edwards led the charge with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Marcus Collins (16), Steven Long (15), Ambrose Johnson (14), and Jonathan Claxton (12) contributed double figure points also.
Claxton grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.
