Stingy Defense Sends PCC Past Lakers

COOS BAY, Ore. - Portland CC stretched their winning streak to six in a row with a convincing 65-31 win at Southwestern Oregon.

The Panther defense was especially tough, holding the host Lakers to 21 percent shooting for the game and to just a single free throw in the 2nd quarter. SWOCC was just 1 of 15 from three point range and committed 22 turnovers.

On the other hand, all 10 Panthers that suited up scored at least one field goal, and the bench players led the way offensively scoring 38 points.

Both teams were a bit sluggish in the first half, but the stifling defense from PCC allowed the visitors to forge a 21-14 lead at the break.

PCC found their scoring range in the second half, and pushed their advantage all the way out to 37 points (61-24) before cruising to the victory.

Emily Fortin came off the bench to score a season high 17 points. Tyensha Parnell added 10 points and eight rebounds.
