PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland experienced a rough first half which led to a halftime deficit that could not be overcome in a 81-68 loss to Lane CC tonight on Harold Williams Court.
The ball simply would not go in the hole for PCC in the first 20 minutes as the Panthers made just 4 of 24 shots, resulting in a 34-19 disadvantage on the scoreboard. Lane took advantage and, while not spectacular themselves at 32 percent shooting, it was more than enough to build the sizable lead.
PCC was much improved in the second period, hitting 5 of 9 from three point range and 14 of 18 from the free throw line. The Panthers fought hard and closed to within seven points (51-44) with 10:49 to play However, the visiting Titans also improved their scoring efficiency and did enough to earn the important region win.Â
Trevon Richmond overcame a slow start to lead PCC with 20 points and eight rebounds. Josiah Sewell continues his strong recent play with 16 points.
