#1 Lane Eases Past Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC put forth a good effort, but top ranked Lane CC eased past the Panthers, 94-76 tonight at Cascade Gym.

The visiting Titans kept their record unblemished at 20-0 and 10-0 in NWAC Southern Region play. PCC falls to 13-9 overall and 6-4 in the region standings. The Panthers are still very much in the hunt for a postseason appearance, currently tied for 3rd in the region table.

Lane came into the game as the NWAC's top scoring team, and didn't disappoint today. The Titans hit 45 percent of their shot attempts and were able to add to their output by making 21 of 27 tries from the free throw line.

PCC tried to match the offensive output and came out ready. The home team led 20-16 after the 1st quarter and 29-27 midway through the 2nd. Lane began to pull away however, as shots from distance began to fall and a several drives to the rim resulted in 3-point play opportunities.

The second half was similar as both teams scored the ball at a high rate, but Lane's duo of Bella Hamel (22 points) and Kendra McAninch (22 points) led the high powered Titans to the road win.

Portland's India Gultry broke out of a mini slump with 22 points, and added a team high nine rebounds. Tynesha Parnell (15 points), Nia Bradley (14 points), and Iris Cubit (12 points) also scored double figures.
