PORTLAND, Ore. - Using their best shooting performance of the season, Portland CC punched their ticket to the post-season with a 94-73 win over Clark College last night.
The Panthers tickled the twine with a 58.5 percent shooting clip, easily their best effort of the season. That mark included 12 makes out of 20 tries from three point range - also a season best.
The hot streak came at just the right time, as the emphatic victory sends PCC to the playoffs for the first time since 2015 and for just the 2nd time in program history.
Despite the torrid shooting from Portland, the visiting Penguins managed to stay in the game through three quarters of play. PCC led 64-55 heading into the 4th quarter needing to close out the game to clinch the playoff spot.
The Panthers delivered, outscoring Clark 30-18 in the final 10 minutes of action.
A balanced scoring effort pushed PCC to the win. Iros Cubit led the way with 21 points, helped by India Gultry (19), Emily Fortin (17), Tynesha Parnell (16), and Madilyn Meadows (15).
PCC will close out the regular season vs SWOCC this Saturday, then await their opponent for the NWAC Tournament.
