Sophomore Night is Playoff Payoff for PCC Women

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC chalked up another win after honoring their sophomores, defeating Southwestern Oregon 67-53 in the final home game of the 2021-22 season.

The result leaves PCC at 10-6 in NWAC South play. Coupled with Clark's upset win over Umpqua, the Panthers end the season in 3rd place in the region standings. The team will now await their opponent selection for the NWAC Tournament to be held in Everett, Washington starting on Saturday, March 17.

The pregame festivities may have left the Panthers a bit sluggish, as the visiting Lakers managed to forge a 32-26 lead at halftime. The 2nd quarter belonged to SWOCC, as they outscored PCC 18-11 in the period.

PCC turned it around immediately after the break, scoring the first 11 points of the 3rd quarter - eight of them from Iris Cubit who finally found space in the lane for good looks at the basket. The Panthers would eventually win the 3rd period 22-5, which put the game out of reach.

Cubit finished the game with 20 points, followed by Tynesha Parnell with 19.

Sophomores Tynesha Parnell, India Gultry, and Kaylee Wegner were honored before the game.
