SALEM, Ore. - In a battle for 1st place in the NWAC Southern Region, Portland CC overcame a tough challenge from Chemeketa CC by the score of 1-0 today in Salem.

The result keeps the Panthers undefeated in region play, and PCC has outscored their opponents 16-0.

Portland had their hands full this time, and the host Storm gave a very good account of themselves. Chemeketa outshot PCC 15-10, but Panther goalkeeper Sophia Barr combined with the back line to keep another clean sheet.

While the defensive performance kept Chemeketa off the board, the attack generated a few chances of their own and finally broke through in the 84th minute. Paige Nguyen scored her 5th goal of the season, which provided the final margin.

PCC will be on the road for another four games, starting with a trip to Southwestern Oregon on September 24.
