VANCOUVER, Wash. - A stellar defensive effort propelled Portland CC to a 64-45 win over Clark College on the road yesterday.
The Panther defense held the host Penguins to 28 percent shooting for the game (16 of 57) and just 19 points in the second half. Despite all the missed shots from Clark, PCC held the Penguins to just two offensive rebounds for the entire game.
On the other end of the court, Portland did just enough to earn the victory. Hayden Rose emerged as the top scorer, putting up a season high 18 points on 9 of 17 shooting. The freshman also grabbed a game high 14 rebounds.
PCC slowly built a lead in the first half, eventually enjoying a 34-26 advantage at the break.
The Panthers were never threatened in the second half, with their lead extending out to double digits and the final margin becoming their largest of the game.
Josh Lincoln continued his strong play, adding 17 points and 11 rebounds.
