ROSEBURG, Ore. - A solid offensive effort went for naught, as Portland couldn't slow down Umpqua in a 89-77 defeat on the road today.
The Panthers shot the ball well at 51.7 percent (31-60), but the host Riverhawks matched them shot for shot. In fact, UCC was an identical 31-60 from the floor.
The difference came from the free throw line where Umpqua made 19 of 21 attempts, compared to an 11 of 19 effort from Portland.
UCC managed to go on a 8 to 1 run at the end of the first half, turning a 40-39 score into 48-40 at the break.Â
Umpqua then kept PCC at arms length for the entirety of the second half, never letting their advantage fall below four points.
Josiah Sewell and Josh Lincoln led PCC with 17 points each, while Hayden Rose added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
