COOS BAY, Ore. - The PCC women's basketball team was hoping to gain some momentum after their first region win a few days ago, but will come home with a 59-50 loss at Southwestern Oregon today.
The 4th quarter proved to be the deciding period, as the host Lakers were able to solve a stingy Portland defense and turn a one point lead into a nine point victory.Â
The Panthers decided to protect the paint during this road contest, and SWOCC obliged by tossing up 29 three point shots. The attempts from distance kept coming from the home team despite making just six through three quarters. The Lakers made four of their seven tries in the 4th quarter however, which provided the winning burst of scoring in the closing moments.
Ashley Aughterson led Portland with 12 points and seven rebounds. McKinlee Jeffreys scored a season best eight points, and Danielle Llamas came off the bench to add eight as well.
