Cougars Best PCC With Clutch Late Baskets

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC was outscored by the slimmest of margins down the stretch of a close game at Cascade Gym, falling 73-72 to Clackamas CC in NWAC South Region play.

The visiting Cougars enjoyed a 10 point lead (59-49) with 10:09 to play in the second half, and looked to coast to a deserved win. PCC had other plans, and staged a comeback that was completed by a Josiah Sewell drive and foul. The sophomore completed the three point play and gave the Panthers a 68-67 lead with 3:32 left on the clock.

Sewell scored again to give PCC a three point advantage, but an under pressure trey from CCC's Payton Meyers tied the game with 2:25 to play.

From there, Portland came up empty on three straight possessions and Clackamas took advantage with a putback and free throw in the final moments. A late layup by Sewell as time expired was not enough, as Clackamas escaped with the road victory.

Sewell led all scorers with 28 points which included a 12 of 12 effort from the free throw line. Josh Lincoln added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
