PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC scored the ball at a much improved rate, but succumbed to a Clackamas team on fire from three point range in a 91-64 loss today at Cascade Gym.
The Panthers shot the ball at a 41 percent clip (24 of 59) but came up mostly empty from three point range, hitting just 1 of 12. On the other hand, the visiting Cougars made 12 of 24 attempts while shooting 53 percent overall.
Trailing 26-17 after the first quarter, the Panthers let the game get away in the second. Clackamas outscored PCC 23-11 in the period, establishing a lead that the host team could not overcome.Â
In the second half, every run by the Panthers was answered with a key basket from the Cougars - most often a three pointer.
Malia Cabigon muscled inside for 19 points and six rebounds for Portland. Ashley Aughterson added 15 points.Â
Mia Martineau was the top scorer for the Cougars, dropping in a game high 20.Â
