PORTLAND, Ore. - A wide open game ended with Portland CC on top, as the Panthers outgunned the Seattle Mountaineers 124-120 at Cascade Gym tonight.
The visitors showcased several shot-making players and gave PCC lots of trouble with their free-wheeling style. Seattle led for much of the first half and used a 10-2 run at the end of the period to take a 62-52 advantage into the locker rooms.
The Mountaineers continued to have the hot hand in the early action of the 2nd period, and led by eight (90-82) midway through the half. Portland managed to get a few stops at that point, and put together a 10-0 run to take the lead for good.Â
Portland led by nine (118-109) with 1:50 remaining and appeared to have the game in hand. A 9-2 run by the visitors made things interesting, but Jahvari Martino made all four of his free throw attempts in the final moments to seal the victory.
Martino finished with 32 points with his attacking play, including an 11 of 12 effort from the free throw line. Edy Essien added 25 points thanks to seven three pointers made.
Josh Lincoln posted a double-double, contributing 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Seattle's Kobe Powell led all scorers with 38 points.
