EVERETT, Wash. - Portland CC made it eight wins in a row to start the 2023-24 season after defeating Everett CC yesterday night 72-52. It was the first of three games for PCC at the NWAC Crossover Tournament hosted by Everett.
The Panthers got off to a fast start, scoring the first nine points of the game. Portland continued to dominate all the way to halftime, and enjoyed a 39-17 lead heading into the break.
The host Trojans put forth a better effort in the second half and outscored PCC by two points after halftime, but did not threaten with any sustained run of scoring. A factor in Portland maintaining their lead was the play of Ellie Haas, who scored all of her 13 points in the second half.
Iris Cubit turned in her best performance of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Cheyann Ashworth added 12 points and 16 rebounds. Â
