OLYMPIA, Wash. - Portland CC won their second game at the NWAC Crossover Tournament, this time versus host South Puget Sound CC yesterday by the score of 90-78.
Jahvari Martino continued his impressive play, scoring 28 points on 10 of 12 shooting while adding a team high 11 rebounds.'
Martino did most of his damage in the second half, as he had just seven points at halftime. In the first period, Hayden Rose led the way with 15 points which spurred the Panthers to a double digit lead which the did not relinquish. Rose's layup as time expired gave PCC a 44-34 lead heading to the locker rooms.
The host Clippers made one run in the second half, cutting the gap down to six points (48-41) with 15:16 to play, but PCC had an answer and pushed the advantage back out to double digits in short order. Any momentum that SPSS was searching for was met by a clutch bucket from Portland, most often by Martino.
Rose finished with 21 points to help the Panther cause. Josh Lincoln added 19 counters.
