PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland earned an important region win tonight at Cascade Gym, defeating Lane CC 65-64.
The result keeps he Panthers in the hunt for a playoff berth at 4-5 in the region standings.
Hayden Rose continues to come into his own, this time pouring in 29 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead PCC to the win. The victory came despite 21 turnovers from the home team, but Lane could not capitalize thanks in part to a dismal 8 of 20 effort from the free throw line.
It was a close game from start to finish, with Portland edging ahead in the final moments. Josiah Sewell gave PCC a three point lead (65-62) after a pair of free throws with 12 seconds on the clock. Lane scored a deuce on a putback from Devean Hinton, but their subsequent foul came with only 2 seconds remaining. Sewell missed the two free throws, but the Titans could not get a final shot off in time.
In addition to Rose's game high, Josh Lincoln added 16 points ad six rebounds.Â
