PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC suffered a frustrating 3-1 loss at home versus Tacoma yesterday at the Rock Creek Campus.
The Panthers and Titans were generally an even match on the day with both teams generating quality chances to score. Tacoma got on the board first thanks to a PCC foul just inside the penalty area. Zach Browning would tuck home the spot kick just before halftime that gave TCC the lead.
Portland had an opportunity to equalize very early in the second half. This time Tacoma committed the infraction inside the area, giving PCC the penalty attempt. Jose Hernandez saved the shot from Ivan Alfaro however, and a follow up shot on the rebound by Brandon Sanchez was inches too high.
The Titans took advantage of the momentum shift and tallied two more goals in the period to put the game way. Josue Lopez bagged a consolation goal for the Panthers in the 88th minute.
PCC outshot their opponent 15-12, and won five corner kicks to Tacomas's four.
