LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Portland CC broke a three game winless streak in style, defeating Pierce College today 3-1.
Goals have been hard to come by for the luckless Panthers recently, but spirits were lifted today as the men filled the net with three scored before 25 minutes were gone in the first half.
Gerardo Contreras hit for a pair of goals, and set the tone early with a score before two minutes were ticked off the clock.
Michael Freeman added a goal in the 21st minute, then Contreras completed his brace just three minutes later. Ivan Alfaro was a big part of the offensive surge, contributing assists on two of the goals.
The stunned Raiders buckled down after that, and their defense kept PCC off the board for the rest of the game.
Portland's defense was stellar, allowing just four total shots for the game, but one of them found the back of the net. Kolby White-Gibson prevented the shutout with a goal just before halftime.
