Panthers Secure Important Road Win

OREGON CITY, Ore. - Portland CC earned a big win on the road today, defeating Clackamas CC by the score of 2-0.

The result evens the Panthers' record in the NWAC South at 3-3 and in a good position for a playoff spot.

PCC faced a challenge versus the Cougars, and the hosts made it difficult with a strong defensive effort. The first half ended scoreless as neither side threatened with more than half chances at goal.

Melissa Fraijo continued her fine season in the attacking midfielder role, and put the Panthers on the board but left it late, as the goal came in the 83rd minute. Melissa has scored the game winning goal in each of the Panthers South Regions wins this year!

A second goal came in the 89th minute which salted the game away. This one was an own goal by a Clackamas defender that deflected the ball into their own net while attempting to deal with a PCC corner kick from Jasmin Lopez.

The Panthers also put together a solid defensive performance, allowing just five total shots. Center backs, Jordyn Minor and Mariana Flores had their best games of the year and were hugely vocal for the panthers in keeping things organized. Aleena Calvert made four solid saves to earn her third shutout of the season.
