OREGON CITY, Ore. - Portland CC suffered their first NWAC South Region loss with a 84-78 defeat at Clackamas CC yesterday.
The result snapped an eight game winning streak for PCC.
For the second straight game, the Panthers were unable to match their season scoring average of close to 100 points per game. The first half performance was the culprit, as PCC hit just 14 of 37 attempts including just 2 of 12 three pointers.
Down 49-36 at the break, Portland was much better in the second half but could not make up the deficit. The host Cougars managed the clock well and made 10 of 13 free throws in the period to secure the win.
Jahvari Martino continued his all-star level season with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kyle Gruhler added 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting.
