PORTLAND, Ore. - After a disappointing loss on Monday, Portland put one back in the win column with a 96-76 win over Clark College tonight at Harold Williams Court.
PCC started the game strong and built a small early lead (20-14), but the visiting Penguins battled back to take the lead at 26-24. The Panthers took control of the game late in the first half, closing the period on a 10-0 run to turn a 38-33 lead into a 48-33 score at the break.
In the second half, PCC extended their advantage with a mix of three pointers and drives to the basket. The Panthers also crashed the boards, collecting 51 rebounds compared to just 35 for Clark. 16 of those rebounds were offensive, leading to 22 second chance points.
Jahvari Martino led PCC with 24 points. Kyle Gruhler added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
